Since I’ve finally graduated college, I figured it would be helpful if I shared a few of my best tips with those of you who still have to do your time! In this post, I will be sharing some of the best things that I realized after I graduated college. Hopefully, these three handy tips from a college graduate will encourage you throughout the rest of your college years!
1. Enjoy the time you have
Seriously, we all know how tough college is, but we also have to admit how much fun it can be! You get to spend four years making friends with the coolest people, living with one of them, and managing things on your own! Yes, you are busy in college, but you still aren’t as busy as graduate school students or those who are working full time jobs! So, even though college can be hard sometimes, I want to encourage you to enjoy it. Make the most of the time that you have there. Hang out with friends now before things get even more busy!
2. Make sure that you love your major
Another big thing that I’ve realized is that you really have to love your major in order to make it through those four years. Y’all, being a biology major is no joke. I hated chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics, and I had to take two semesters of all of them! I know that if I weren’t so in love with the other courses in my major and with my desired career, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. If you don’t love your major, change! If you love your major, however, it will be worth it! Remember to keep working hard and pushing toward your end goal! Knowing where you want to go after college and why is a big motivator!
3. Create systems
Another important thing that I learned in college was to have systems in place. This can be anything from a productivity system, organization system, time hack, or more! It is so important to have a system that works for you so that you can be less stressed, overwhelmed, and worn out! Finding the right system will take a few tries, but the time you will save will be worth it!
Since I am a morning person, I created a regular morning routine that let me enjoy some peace and quiet before my roommates woke up. Each morning, I would wake up at least an hour earlier than necessary in order to do a quick work out routine in the living room, to shower, to do my Bible study, to eat breakfast, and to work on a few small blog tasks. Waking up a little earlier than normal let me enjoy time to myself and allowed me to get a few extra things done in the morning while my brain is fresh!
So, if you don’t have a system in place yet, I would strongly suggest that you give it a shot! If you find things that work for you now, they can continue to work for you through your post grad studies and even your career!
