Okay, so we all know that college is about getting an education. That’s basic. We go to college to learn and graduate with a degree (hopefully in only four years!). But is that really all college is about? No way! To me, college is about learning, becoming who you really are, and creating lasting friendships with amazing memories.
My freshman year of college, I was a little nervous to enter into a college campus (my high school was extremely small). But I quickly realized that now that I am here, I can make a name for myself. I can be who I want to be. I don’t have to worry about what friends I had in third grade think anymore because hey! This is college! So, I joined groups. I stayed social. I became the real me, and you can to! The great thing about becoming who you really are is that you are far more genuine and true to yourself. People will see that and they will want to get to know you. So who are you? Get out there and show the world!
So far, in my years at college, the things I remember most are the times I spent laughing and just hanging out with my friends. Sureeee, I can show you how to do a genetic cross and tell you what the odds are that your child will have blue eyes instead of brown..but hey, who is really interested in all of that?! Instead, what interests people is relationships and memories! It’s a natural instinct for human beings to socialize. Generally, we like to be around people who make us happy.
So, if you are looking to get the most out of your college experience, I suggest you get out of your stuffy dorm room and meet someone new! Yes, I know, this will make you get out of your comfort zone..but trust me..it is totally worth it! So go on! Get out there and do life!
