In recent years, a wide range of technologies have emerged that have become huge distractions for students who want to become more productive. However, on the flip-side, many of the latest technologies can also be used to help students manage their time better and find ways to become more productive in their academic lives. The following technologies in particular, can increase your productivity and allow you to manage your time in a much more efficient way.
Smartphones and Mobile Apps
Over 77% of US citizens now own a smartphone and this figure continues to rise. The percentage of students in their teens and early 20’s who own these devices is even higher. However, most students don’t use their smartphones to their full potential. Basic time management features that come as standard in these devices that you can use include calendars, alarms, and reminder applications.
The real power of the latest mobile technologies though, lies in their ability to extend their functionality through mobile apps. Thousands of mobile apps have been developed to improve all aspects of our lives, including the way we manage our time and increase our productivity. Some of my favorite mobile apps for students include Trello, BeFocusedPro, and Quizlet!
Online Tips and Advice
If you look carefully, you will find that the internet is another resource that can greatly improve your productivity and ensure that you use your time wisely. A wide range of self-help blogs, forums, social media pages and video sharing channels have emerged in recent years, that provide helpful tips and advice for students, including how to enhance your memory and how to develop other important skills. In many instances, the owners of these websites and online resources go one step further by offering mentoring services and training products that are designed to help you to become more efficient with your time.
The latest cloud-based systems give students the opportunity to work in a more flexible and organized manner. Many of the learning materials and work items you produce can be stored in digital formats and you can access these items whenever and wherever you want. The cloud also makes it much easier to collaborate with other students, especially if you are working on group projects together. Google Drive is perfect for this!
As you can see, the latest technologies can be used by students in a more positive way and have the potential to make you more productive. In most cases, students already have access to these technologies. They simply need to change the way they look at and use these technologies.
