Senior year is an exciting, crazy, and stressful time for many high school students. They are enjoying their last last few months in their hometown with the friends that they’ve known forever. They are experiencing their last round of favorite extracurricular activities that they can’t image doing without. And, hopefully, they are working on their college applications! With all of these big changes coming up so fast, it is normal for students to feel stressed and overwhelmed. In this post, I am going to share a few things that parents can do to help minimize their high school senior’s stress and help them prepare for college.
College Plan with them
First things first, parents can help their students by college planning with them. Help them look up college information. Help them weigh college options. Encourage them to make a pros and cons list for each college they are considering. You can also take a look at a post I wrote on how to choose the right college. Plus, there’s a printable bonus that goes along with this post!
Take them on campus tours
Another thing you can do to help minimize your students stress and help them prepare for college is to take them on campus tours. If your student is struggling to pick a college, these can be so helpful because they give you a feel for each campus. Feel free to share your opinions of each college, but remember to listen to their thoughts too. This is a choice that you and your student should make together.
Encourage them to get started
One of the best things that you can do to help your stressed-out student is to encourage them to get a head start on things. Some examples include encouraging them to apply for colleges early, encouraging them to make good grades, encouraging them to choose a major, and encouraging them to apply for scholarships. Is your student struggling with one of these? If so, you can click each one to read a full post on how to get started!
Give them extra preparation if they need it
If your student is still struggling, it is important to give them the extra help that they need. You want your student to feel confident as they start this new chapter of their life, right? I have two resources that I think can help you give them the extra preparation that they need. The first one is a free mini freshman year prep course. In this course, your student will find short, actionable tips that will help answer a few of their biggest college prep questions.
The second resources is an in-depth freshman prep course called Launch into Freshman Year. In this course, your student will find all of the answers to every single college question that they have. They will also be able to use the things that I teach in this course to get prepared for their first semester of college classes.
I recommend that you get started with the free course and see how your student does! If they are still stressing about their freshman year, then you may want to see if Launch into Freshman Year is right for them!
I hope that this post helped you learn what you can do to minimize your high school seniors stress and help them start preparing for freshman year! Don’t forget to share the free mini freshman year prep course with them!
