One of the big things that college students struggle with is how to manage their time effectively. There are just so many things to do when you are in college! How are you supposed to go to all of your classes, do all of that homework, study, eat, socialize, and have time to sleep? I know it might sound like it’s impossible, but it’s not! To help you out, here are five time management tips for college students.
1. Invest in a planner that you love
The first thing that you are going to need to do in order to have better time management is to invest in a planner. I don’t want you to invest in any old planner though! It needs to be a beautiful planner that you absolutely love! I want you to be so excited about using it that you can hardly wait! Personally, I picked up a new Day Designer for Blue Sky planner from Target for about $20. Yes, it was a little expensive for a planner, but it was absolutely worth it 100%!
2. Keep a to-do list nearby
My next time management tip for college students is to have a to-do list nearby. This can be on sticky notes at your desk, written on your computer, or on one of those adorable to-do lists that Target sells (you can tell that I obviously love Target). You can even try to find a planner with a built-in to-do list section on every page. This will help you keep everything all in one place.
3. Make time for yourself
Another thing you are going to need to do this semester is to make time for yourself every day. I want you to find a time where you can just chill and do something that you enjoy at least once every day. This can be anything from going on a run, watching Netflix, or even reading a book. All you need to do is make sure that it is something that you love! Having this time built into your day will help you be more productive when it comes time to do all of that homework.
4. Be flexible
The next thing you are going to need to do in order to manage your time effectively in college is to be flexible. Guys, life happens. Some days things pop up that are more important than what you had planned. This is why you need to make sure that there is a little free space built into your day. Whether something pops up or not, it is going to be nice to have this extra time to get ahead on school work or to go hang out with friends.
5. Plan ahead
The last thing that you are going to need in order to manage your time effectively in college is to plan ahead. You can do this by looking at your syllabus and filling in future test days, quizzes, and paper due dates. Just make sure that you do this in pencil since these things are often subject to change. You can also plan ahead by figuring out when you are going to need to start studying for your next test or even what weekend you should visit home.
